About us

DEPLACE FURNITURE was founded in 2001 and today is one of the most exciting furniture makers in Denmark. All of the firm’s products are handcrafted at the DEPLACE workshop in the center of Copenhagen under the direction of its founder, Lars dePlace Bjørn.

DEPLACE’s ambition is to create furniture that can only be called sublime, both in terms of the quality of its workmanship and the perfection of its design. Each piece is handmade by dePlace Bjørn and his associates, with deep respect for the fabled traditions of Danish cabinetry and an eye on the contours of contemporary Nordic design.

DePlace Bjørn himself works closely with every customer, forming each piece in light of its specific function and intended surroundings. Every item is highly individual and finely detailed—reflecting the uncompromising attitude of this determined young furniture maker and the tastes of those he seeks to serve.

Lars dePlace Bjørn completed his apprenticeship with Denmark’s legendary furniture maker Søren Horn & Associates in 2001, in the process winning the prestigious Queen’s medal for cabinetry. Since then he has led DEPLACE FURNITURE—a unique workshop in the working heart of Copenhagen.
